Washington Post-George Zimmerman To Be Charged In Trayvon Martin Shooting

(Sari Horowitz)  Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey plans to announce as early as Wednesday afternoon that she is charging neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, according to a law enforcement official close to the investigation. It was not immediately clear what charge Zimmerman will face. Martin, 17 and unarmed, was shot and killed Feb. 26 by Zimmerman, who said he was acting in self-defense. Police in Sanford, Fla., where the shooting took place, did not charge Zimmerman, citing the state’s “stand your ground” law. Corey told reporters Tuesday night that she would hold a news conference about the…

Video-Obama Calls Ronald Reagan A Wild-Eyed, Socialist, Tax Hiking Class Warrior

(Nicholas Ballasy)  President Barack Obama said the White House proposed “Buffet Rule” could be named the “Reagan Rule,” referring to former Republican President Ronald Reagan as a “wild-eyed, Socialist, tax hiking class warrior.” “This President gave another speech where he said it was ‘crazy’ — that’s a quote — that certain tax loopholes make it possible for multimillionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying 10 percent of his salary,” Obama said at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building Wednesday. “That wild-eyed, socialist, tax-hiking class warrior was Ronald Reagan.” Obama floated the idea of renaming the “Buffet Rule,” which…

Video-TSA Admits $1B Naked Body Scanner Fleet Worthless

(Jonathan Corbett)  My last video demonstrated how easy it is to take a metal object through TSA nude body scanners undetected. In this video, I interviewed an actual TSA screener to hear more about how these machines are an epic fail. “Jennifer,” who asked me not to use her real name or face, has been on the front lines of the TSA’s checkpoints for the last 4 years. Please share this video with your family, friends, and most importantly, elected officials in federal government. Make sure they understand that your vote is contingent on them fixing the abuse that 200,000 passengers face…

Graphic Video Of Teen Being Restrained & Shocked In Treatment Center

(Mike Beaudet)  Video of a student restrained and shocked for hours at the Judge Rotenberg Center was played in court on Tuesday after a years-long battle by the center to keep it from the public eye. The video, which shows former resident Andre McCollins screaming, writhing in pain, and begging for help, was played at the start of McCollins’ trial against the Canton-based Judge Rotenberg Center. The Rotenberg Center convinced a judge eight years ago to seal the video, and the battle continued up until Tuesday morning when their attorneys asked Superior Court Judge Barbara Dortch-Okara to bar FOX Undercover’s…

New Internet Provider Will Protect Customers From Gov’t Surveillance

(Declan McCullagh )  Nicholas Merrill is planning to revolutionize online privacy with a concept as simple as it is ingenious: a telecommunications provider designed from its inception to shield its customers from surveillance. Merrill, 39, who previously ran a New York-based Internet provider, told CNET that he’s raising funds to launch a national “non-profit telecommunications provider dedicated to privacy, using ubiquitous encryption” that will sell mobile phone service and, for as little as $20 a month, Internet connectivity. The ISP would not merely employ every technological means at its disposal, including encryption and limited logging, to protect its customers. It would…

How Political Corruption Is Responsible For 80% Of Your Cell Phone Bill

(Susie Madrak)  A few years ago, I had this idea. I was pretty sure that we could get a new populist movement sweeping the nation through pro-consumer actions aimed at two groups: cell phone carriers, and cable companies. Do you know anyone who likes their companies and who’s happy with the amount they’re paying? Me neither. Now I’m even more convinced it was a good idea after reading this piece by Matt Stoller in the Republic Report: Last year, a new company called Lightsquared promised an innovative business model that would dramatically lower cell phone costs and improve the quality…

Canada Introduces Plastic Bills,Looking To Go Digital

(Keith Wagstaff)  While Americans pull crumpled paper bills out of their pockets to pay for their Mega Millions tickets, Canadians are busy ditching all of their old currency. The Canadian government introduced plastic bills in November, recently announced it was doing away with pennies and now is looking to go digital. The Royal Canadian Mint has announced it will release a completely digital currency called MintChip. Aside from sounding delicious, MintChip will be stored on physical chips and will be able to hand both big purchases and nano-transactions – purchases less than $1. If this all sounds a lot like…

Robot With Human Skeleton Steps Toward Artificial Intelligence

(Keith Wagstaff)  I’ve written about a lot of creepy robots in my day but this one might be the creepiest. It is an anthropomimetic robot which, apparently, means it “imitates not just the human form, but also the biological structures and functions that enable and constrain perception and action.” In other words, it’s got lots of synthetic human parts like bones, muscles and tendons. Its name is ECCEROBOT (short for Embodied Cognition in a Compliantly Engineered Robot) and it’s being developed by Owen Holland at the University of Sussex.   The idea of biomimetic robots is not new — scientists have been building robots based on animals…

Chinese Woman Gives Birth In Public Toilet, But Baby Is Accidentally Flushed Away

(Jill Reilly)  desperate emergency rescue was launched after a pregnant woman gave birth squatting above a public toilet, but in a horrifying twist, lost the baby when it was accidentally flushed away. Rescue workers had to rip out the toilet and crack waste pipes to find the tiny newborn baby. According to witnesses, the woman went into the toilet in Zhaoyang District, Beijing and asked her husband to wait outside. But when she gave birth to a baby, hovering over the toilet, the baby dropped into the toilet and was accidentally flushed down by waste water.  The hole in the toilet was…

Rick Quits!

(CBS)  Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has suspended his campaign. Senator Santorum appeared at a hotel room in Gettysburg at 2 p.m. where he announced he was suspending his campaign. “We were very concerned about our roles as being the very best parents has we can be to our children,” Santorum said. “We made a decision over the weekend while this presidential race is over to for me and will suspend our campaign effective today – we are not done fighting.” The announcement came a day after Santorum’s daughter Bella was released from a Virginia hospital. Bella, the youngest of…

Source Confirms: Zimmerman Will Not Be Arrested And Prosecuted For Homicide

(Patrick Henningsen)  The public is currently awaiting a decision from Florida’s courts on whether or not neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman will be charged for firing the fatal shot that killed teenager Trayvon Martin. Mainline pundits even agree now that if Zimmerman were to arrested for first degree murder or even a lesser charge – it would have already happened by now. It’s also clear that even if he were to face a criminal trial, both the media and certain left-leaning politicians’ stellar performances to date have all but guaranteed that a Geroge Zimmerman hearing would likely decend into an embarrassing OJ Simpson-style circus, and make it…

$50,000 Fine For Making A Cup Of “Unapproved” Herbal Tea In New Zealand

(Ethan A. Huff)  The health freedom of New Zealanders is under very serious threat, as the federal government there pushes to pass a bill known as theNatural Health Products Bill(NHPB), or Bill 324-1, that will bring the nation into compliance with the overbearing and authoritarian food and health restrictions found inCodex Alimentarius, the so-called world food code. If passed, NHPB will combine with the equally-threatening New ZealandFood Bill(http://www.naturalnews.com) to make it essentially illegal for individuals to even prepare for themselves, let alone try to sell, herbal products and teas, vitamins and supplements, or any other natural products that are not…

Miami Marlins Manager Suspended For His Free Speech “I love Castro”

(Local 10)  Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has been suspended for five games amid controversy over a comment he made about Fidel Castro. The Marlins released a statement Tuesday morning, saying, “The Marlins acknowledge the seriousness of the comments attributed to Guillen. The pain and suffering caused by Fidel Castro cannot be minimized, especially in a community filled with victims of the dictatorship.”   Time Magazine reported that Guillen said he loves Castro and respects him for staying in power so long. Guillen spoke at a Tuesday morning news conference, apologizing again in Spanish before fielding questions in English. He said…

New Microchip Knows Your Location To Within Centimeters

(Paul Joseph Watson)  The development of a new microchip for cell phones that knows the user’s location to within a few centimeters confirms the fact that contrary to biblical fears about mandatory implantable microchips, people have willingly exchanged their privacy for convenience and that the cell phone itself is the de facto “mark of the beast”. “Broadcom has just rolled out a chip for smart phones that promises to indicate location ultra-precisely, possibly within a few centimeters, vertically and horizontally, indoors and out,” reports MIT Technology Review. “In theory, the new chip can even determine what floor of a building you’re…

DHS Raids Home To Seize Deadly Hair Straighteners

(Paul Joseph Watson)  The Department of Homeland Security, a federal agency created in the aftermath of 9/11 to fight terrorism, has continued its war on potentially deadly grooming appliances by raiding a home in the affluent Orange County city of Laguna Niguel to seize allegedly counterfeit hair straighteners. “About 10 investigators with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and special ICE Homeland Security Investigations agents combed through the garage and the single-story house in the 29500 block of Pelican Way near Niguel Road and Alicia Parkway,” reports the Orange County Register. According to the feds, the American people need to be…

Feds Want Access To Your Xbox And Wii Video Game Systems

(Kim Zetter)  Think twice if you live outside the U.S. and plan to sell your used gaming console. The Department of Homeland Security has launched a research project to find ways to hack into gaming consoles to obtain sensitive information about gamers stored on the devices. One of the first contracts for the project was awarded last week to Obscure Technologies, based in California, to devise a forensic tool that will siphon data from the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3 and other consoles. The $177,000 contract requires the company to create new hardware and software tools that can extract data…

No Grand Jury Indictment In The Trayvon Martin Case

(Rene Lynch)  The special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case announced Monday that she will not take the case before a Florida grand jury — but will continue pursuing her investigation. The news release issued on behalf of Florida State Atty. Angela Corey cautioned the public not to read too much into the move. “The decision should not be considered a factor in the final determination of the case,” it said. The Seminole County Grand Jury was scheduled to convene Tuesday to hear evidence in the death of Martin, a hoodie-wearing unarmed black 17-year-old who was shot Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla. The case has captivated the…

Police Mysteriously Lose Video Of Megaupload Raid

(Stephen C. Webster)  Video footage of a police raid on the home of Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom is missing, and authorities claim they’re not quire sure what happened to it. This flub is just the latest in anti-piracy allegations against the file-hosting site, and comes amid the evidence discovery phase in the case against Kim Dotcom, the extravagant and eccentric founder of Megaupload, which was raided by New Zealand authorities after the U.S. movie and music industries accused the site of extensive media piracy. Following the raid, New Zealand’s highest court chided authorities for filing the wrong paperwork for their warrant,…

Zimmerman Speaks, Raises Funds On New Website

(CNN)  The man at the center of a firestorm over his shooting of an unarmed Florida teenager has launched a website, warning supporters about groups that falsely claim to be raising funds for his defense and soliciting donations for himself. “I am the real George Zimmerman,” declares the website, set up over the weekend. “On Sunday February 26th, I was involved in a life altering event which led me to become the subject of intense media coverage. As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my…

MIT Predicts Half Of Humanity To Be Culled In Post-Industrial Crash

(Aaron Dykes)  Will 5 billion people perish from the earth in the coming century? That’s what the controversial elitist think tank, the Club of Rome, predicted back in 1972. Decades after its publication, advocates of world government are still pushing its predictions as a call to curb mankind’s footprint on the earth. Australian physicist Graham Turner has recently made news again after revisiting computer models MIT researchers created for the Club of Rome’s 1972 publication that sees a drastic decline in human population coming in relation to a increasing scarcity of resources. Turner’s basic conclusions, however, give away the agenda…

13 Ways Government Tracks Us

(Bill Quigley)  Privacy is eroding fast as technology offers government increasing ways to track and spy on citizens.  The Washington Post reported there are 3,984 federal, state and local organizations working on domestic counterterrorism.  Most collect information on people in the US. (Source) Here are thirteen examples of how some of the biggest government agencies and programs track people. One.  The National Security Agency (NSA) collects hundreds of millions of emails, texts and phone calls every day and has the ability to collect and sift through billions more.  WIRED just reported NSA is building an immense new data center which…

The Voice Of Ron Paul Will Be Heard For Generations

(Alex Isenstadt)  Ron Paul isn’t going to win the Republican presidential nomination, and his long Capitol Hill career is coming to end. But even as he winds down his career in elected office, his voice is being amplified across the country by dozens of House and Senate candidates who are seeking to carry on his legacy. Paul activists of all ages, backgrounds and levels of political experience have taken to the campaign trail this year, inspired by the Texas congressman’s presidential campaign and a libertarian-infused message that has gotten more traction with voters than ever before. There’s no exact way of…

GMO Insecticide Responsible For Killing Bees,Destroying Food Chain

(NaturalNews)  Early last year, leaked documents obtained by a Colorado beekeeper exposed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) illegitimate approval of clothianidin, a highly-toxic pesticide manufactured by Bayer CropScience that the regulatory agency knew was capable of killing off bees (http://www.naturalnews.com/030921_EPA_pesticides.html). Now, a new study out of Purdue University in Indiana has not only confirmed, once again, that clothianidin is killing off bees, but also that clothianidin’s toxicity is systemic throughout the entire food chain, which could one day lead to the catastrophic destruction of the food supply. The study, which was published in the online journal PLoS ONE, investigated…

Netfix Creates FLIXPAC To Support SOPA

(Stephen C. Webster)  Video streaming giant Netflix has recognized the compelling financial logic behind Washington’s anti-piracy efforts. In a recent filing with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), Netflix revealed that it has created its own political action committee called FLIXPAC, designed to support anti-piracy measures in Washington and the candidates that favor them. The FEC filing, made April 5, was first spotted by Politico. The company has seen its spending on federal lobbying ramp up in recent years, going from approximately $20,000 in 2009 to half a million in 2011, amid heated debates in Washington over restrictions on Americans’ Internet use. Those…

Al Sharpton: Your Activism Is Needed in Baltimore

(American Dream)  How would you feel if a group of young thugs punched you in the face, knocked you to the ground, stripped you naked and took off with your car keys, your watch, your money and your cell phone?  Well, that is exactly what happened to one man in Baltimore recently and it was all caught on camera.  Perhaps the most frightening thing about this incident is that nobody from the crowd of onlookers helped this man.  Instead, most of them appear to have been too busy laughing hysterically at what was happening to him. Sadly, this kind of…

The Secret Club Controlling America

(Thomas Dishaw) There is a secret club controlling America trying to incrementally destroy your sexuality and erode your Human Rights. Last week the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of allowing  jail officials to conduct a strip search of anyone in their custody. These searches could  be performed on your Mother who was arrested for that unpaid traffic ticket,  or your cousin who got arrested for a joint of marijuana.  Passed under the pretense of keeping our jails safe the Supreme Court believes that inmates are  entitled to virtually no privacy rights while incarcerated. [youtube_sc url=”http://youtu.be/5Pz-cFclov4″] Taking your family on a summer vacation used to be…

Technology Without God Is Dangerous

(Vatacin)  Pope Benedict, leading the world’s Catholics into Easter, said on Saturday that technological progress, in the absence of awareness of God and moral values, is a threat to the world. Benedict presided at a solemn Easter vigil Mass in St Peter’s Basilica to usher the 1.2 billion-member church into the most important day of its liturgical calendar. The basilica, the largest church in Christendom, was in the dark for the start of the service to signify the darkness in Jesus’ tomb before what Christians believe was his resurrection from the dead three days after his crucifixion. The some 10,000…

19 Signs Of Very Serious Economic Trouble On The Horizon

(Economic Collapse Blog)  Most Americans have no idea how much economic trouble is heading our way.  Most of them just assume that everything will eventually “return to normal” just like it always has before and that those running our economy “know what they are doing” and that we should trust them to do their jobs. Unfortunately, these beliefs are being reinforced by the bubble of false hope that we are experiencing right now.  For example, it is being reported that weekly unemployment claims in the United States have fallen to a four-year low.  That is a very good thing.  Let us…

Is The Army Preparing For Civil Unrest Or Martial Law?

(Staff Sgt. Antwaun J. Parrish)  The Soldiers in a closed formation bang their batons in cadence against their shields as an angry mob approaches. “When I initially picked up my shield, the thought of the movie 300 was the first thing that came to mind,” said Spc. Kyle Wilhelmi. Teams of Soldiers assigned to 3rd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade conducted civil disturbance training here March 13. The Soldiers, though not quite Spartans, are effectively training to hold their line and successfully control crowds if called upon for a civil disturbance. Soldiers with shields, batons and rifles…

Jesus Or Science Who’s Better at Miracles?

(Natalie Wolchover)  Much scientific progress has been made in the 2,000 years since Jesus Christ walked the Earth. In all this time, have scientists managed to replicate his miracles, or does the Son of God still have an edge? Life’s Little Mysteries matches up the miraculous deeds of Jesus, according to the Gospels, against scientists’ more labor-intensive efforts to achieve the same results. Born of a virgin According to the Bible, Christ was immaculately conceived, making him the Son of God and of the Virgin Mary. Today, being born of a virgin is nothing to write home about, thanks to the development of artificial insemination.…

Florida Prostitute Requests McDonald’s As Payment For Her Services

(Alexandra Myers)  Florida prostitute Christine Baker wanted nothing more than $40 bucks and two McDonald’s double cheeseburgers for her services. According to the Miami Herald, an undercover officer got Baker into his car last week. When she gave him her request, he complied. The detective bought the two cheeseburgers for $2.75 and drove to a vacant lot where a group of officers were waiting to arrest her for prostitution. According to the sheriff’s website, she was released on Saturday. It is unclear, however, if they let her eat the cheeseburgers in prison. Source

Big Brother Tracking Device That Everyone Owns

(American Dream)  If you own a cell phone, you might as well kiss your privacy goodbye.  Cell phone companies know more about us than most of us would ever dare to imagine.  Your cell phone company is tracking everywhere that you go and it is making a record of everything that you do with your phone. Much worse, there is a good chance that your cell phone company has been selling this information to anyone that is willing to pay the price – including local law enforcement.  In addition, it is an open secret that the federal government monitors and…

$30,000 Watch Vanishes Up Church Leader’s Sleeve

(Michael Schwirtz)  Facing a scandal over photographs of its leader wearing an enormously expensive watch, the Russian Orthodox Churchworked a little miracle: It made the offending timepiece disappear. Editors doctored a photograph on the church’s Web site of the leader, Patriarch Kirill I, extending a black sleeve where there once appeared to be a Breguet timepiece worth at least $30,000. The church might have gotten away with the ruse if it had not failed to also erase the watch’s reflection, which appeared in the photo on the highly glossed table where the patriarch was seated. The church apologized for the deception on Thursday…

Children Star In Their Own Porn Movies

(Jan Moir)  That children have access to porn and watch it in increasing numbers is bad enough. Now they’re making their own porn, too. And not just making it — they’re starring in their own pornographic home movies, filming each other having sex and passing them around the class as entertainment. This week in Gloucestershire a boy of 14 was arrested for making a pornographic film of himself and a schoolgirl of the same age. The children — who cannot be named for legal reasons — do  not attend the same school, but  were friends. Some time at the beginning…

Bill Gates Funds New Machine That Filters Toilet Waste Into Drinkable Water

(Rob Waugh)  Next time you see a dog lapping thirstily at a toilet bowl, pause for thought – next time, it could be you. A new invention – funded by Bill Gates – aims to turn used toilet water into drinking water. Manchester University’s Sarah Haigh is an expert in nanotechnology – the science of manipulating atoms in matter – and says, it could make waste water from toilets safe to drink.   The innovation – which has been funded by billionaire Bill Gates – could transform the lives of millions of people in the third world. Haigh believes a new…

Armed Neo-Nazis Patrol The Streets Of Sanford, Looking For Race Riots

(Muriel Kane)  Heavily armed neo-Nazis are said to be patrolling the streets of Sanford, Florida to protect “white citizens in the area” in case of race riots. According to a blog at the Miami New Times, the patrols were initiated by Jeff Schoep of the Detroit-based National Socialist Movement in response to the shooting of African-American teen Trayvon Martin by self-appointed neighborhood vigilante George Zimmerman. “We are not advocating any type of violence or attacks on anybody,” Schoep insists, “but we are prepared for it,. We are not the type of white people who are going to be walked all over.” “Because nothing…

Today’s Ebay Special – The Country Of Greece For Sale

(Alexander Higgins)  In what could be one of the better deals encountered on Ebay, one can submit a winning bid for none other than the country of Greece, currently going for the modest price of $1,550 (although with 6 more days left in the auction, there is a small chance Goldman will outbid and use it as LTRO 3 collateral). Of course, since the country is worth much less than the debt (all 7 subordinated classes of it) any new equity buyer would assume, this is a trick auction: our advice – settle for nothing less than getting paid as much as possible for “buying”…

U.S. Standard of Living Has Fallen More Than 50%

(Jeff Nielson)  In writing about the relentless collapse of Western economies, I frequently point to “forty years of plummeting wages” for Western workers, in real dollars. However, where I have been remiss is in quantifying the magnitude of this collapse in Western wages. On several occasions I have glibly referred to how it now takes two spouses working to equal the wages of a one-income family of forty years ago. Unfortunately that is now an understatement. In fact, Western wages have plummeted so low that a two-income family is now (on average) 15% poorer than a one-income family of 40 years…

United States Of Addiction,Painkiller Sales Soar

(AP)  Sales of the nation’s two most popular prescription painkillers have exploded in new parts of the country, an Associated Press analysis shows, worrying experts who say the push to relieve patients’ suffering is spawning an addiction epidemic. From New York’s Staten Island to Santa Fe, N.M., Drug Enforcement Administration figures show dramatic rises between 2000 and 2010 in the distribution of oxycodone, the key ingredient in OxyContin, Percocet and Percodan. Some places saw sales increase sixteenfold. Meanwhile, the distribution of hydrocodone, the key ingredient in Vicodin, Norco and Lortab, is rising in Appalachia, the original epicenter of the painkiller…

American Flag Bearing Barack Obama Hangs in New Jersey

(Patrick Henningsen)  A CBS News affiliate in Philadelphia reported on an incident this week, where a local South Jersey resident has been flying the stars and stripes – only there are no the stars representing the 50 states. In their place was the emblazoned image of Barack Obama. Residents complained that this new ’Obama Stripes’ version of the American Flag violates the United States official flag code.  One elderly resident appeared to be visibly shaken for fear she would be branded as a ‘racist’ for showing her disapproval of the Obama Stripes.  She explains, “I don’t to be called a racist because I object to an American flag where the stars…

Chinese Teen Sells Kidney For $3,500 To Buy Apple IPhone

(Christina Bonnington)  Five people have been charged with intentional injury in the case of a Chinese teenager’s obsessive quest for Apple products. Last April, 17-year-old Wang, a resident of one of China’s poorest provinces, sold a kidney in order to purchase an iPhone and iPad 2. The transaction wasn’t discovered until his mom asked where he had gotten the money to purchase the pricey Apple products. Now five people, including Wang’s surgeon, have been charged with intent to harm in the case, according to Reuters. Wang received $3,500 for the organ, while the defendants (the surgeon, medical staff, and a few other…

Vietnamese Man Buys Wyoming Town For $900G

(AP)  Buford is a small place for sure, but so is the world.  A remote, unincorporated area along busy Interstate 80 that advertised itself as the smallest town in the United States, Buford was sold at auction for $900,000 on Thursday to an unidentified man from Vietnam. It’s owner for the last 20 years, Don Sammons, served with the U.S. Army as a radio operator in 1968-69. After meeting the buyer, an emotional Sammons said it was hard for him to grasp the irony of the situation. “I think it’s funny how things come full circle,” he said. The buyer attended the…

Sawgrass School Photographer Places Black Smiley Over Students Face

( Laura Hibbard)  A second grader at Sawgrass Elementary School in Sunrise, Fla., who didn’t have the parental consent form to be in his class photo was nevertheless included, but in a way that has shocked school officials and the boy’s parents, WPLG TV reports. Per the elementary school’s request, The Huffington Post blurred the faces of the other students in the photo, but the second grade boy can still be seen with a crude, brown-colored, smiley face placed over his face. “It was totally inappropriate,” Broward School District spokeswoman Marsy Smith told WPLG. Smith also said Sherry Rose, the school’s principal, was…

Loophole Could Allow Private Land Claims On Other Worlds

(Adam Mann)  Who owns the moon? What about Mars? For now, the answer is no one, but as more private companies, billionaire entrepreneurs and national governments start casting their eyes on space, the question could change from a futuristic problem into a real issue. Under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which governs international space law, no one nation can claim sovereignty over a body in space. But there could be a loophole. Full blown colonization and settlement of other planets, moons and even asteroids might actually happen, says space policy consultant Rand Simberg, if a government could provide one thing: property rights. Parceling out…

The Philosophy Of Freedom

(NaturalNews)  Do you agree with this statement? Government has no business telling us what to drink, what to eat, what kind of medicine we should take, what to smoke, what to farm, or how to run our private lives. These are all elements of individual liberty or what you might callpersonal freedom. They are all part of the bigger push to get Big Government off our backs and out of our lives. But do the people who call for individual liberty really believe in it themselves? Or are they carrying around a sharp contradiction in their own beliefs? Consider the following statements:…

Priest Accidentally Plays Gay Porn Slideshow To Congregation

(Jesus Diaz)  Father Martin McVeigh was giving a talk to 26 parents and one 8-year-old kid when computer disaster struck. He connected his USB drive into a PC to start his Powerpoint presentation and, instead of the word of God, a hardcore gay porn slideshow started—thanks to Windows’ autoplay. Some parents—who were there to hear McVeigh talk about First Communion—were angry. Others were in shock. Just like McVeigh. He was so embarrassed that, according to witnesses, unplugged the USB drive and walked out of the room without uttering a single word. Later he declared to the press: I don’t know…

See The World Through Google, In The Futuristic Google Glasses

(Steven Levy)  Larry Page and Sergey Brin have long had the dream of a hands-free, mobile Google, where search was a seamless process as you moved around the world. As the years progressed the vision did, too, expanding beyond search to persistent connections with the people in your lives. In other words, Google’s view of the world now has the social side fully baked into it. Today, Google is revealing that it is taking concrete steps towards that vision with ProjectGlass, an augmented reality system that will give users the full range of activities performed with a smart phone — without the…

25 Athletes Who Have Absolutely Lost Their Minds

(Amber Lee)Being a professional athlete in a number of sports today comes with a certain level of fame and fortune that is difficult for us mortals to even imagine. There’s the pressure to win, to perform at a high level, to get that lucrative, long-term deal. Most athletes won’t make the Hall of Fame or break records, but  manage to avoid having the kind of train wreck of career and personal life that lands them into the “Hall of Infamy.” How a professional handles adversity often defines their career long after leaving the field of play. As much as the…

Lawmakers Trying To Sneak Another Unconstitutional Cyber Security Bill Through Congress

(Mike Masnick)  While most folks are looking elsewhere, it appears that Congress is trying to see if it can sneak an absolutely awful “cybersecurity” bill through Congress. We’ve discussed how there’s been some fighting on the Senate side concerning which cybersecurity bill to support, but there’s a similar battle going on in the House, and it appears that the Rogers-Ruppersberger bill, known as Cyber Security Bill (for Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) or HR 3523 is winning out, with a planned attempt to move it through Congress later this month. The bill is awful — and yet has somehow already gained over 100 sponsors. In an attempt…

Who’s Listening To The Listeners? N.S.A. Expands Facilities Across U.S.

(James Bamford)  Army General Keith Alexander, the director of the NSA, is having a busy year — hopping around the country, cutting ribbons at secret bases and bringing to life the agency’s greatly expanded eavesdropping network. In January he dedicated the new $358 million CAPT Joseph J. Rochefort Building at NSA Hawaii, and in March he unveiled the 604,000-square-foot John Whitelaw Building at NSA Georgia. Designed to house about 4,000 earphone-clad intercept operators, analysts and other specialists, many of them employed by private contractors, it will have a 2,800-square-foot fitness center open 24/7, 47 conference rooms and VTCs, and “22…
