The first rule of politics is to not reinforce your opponent’s attacks by repeating them.
Despite being in elective politics for the last 50 years, Joe Biden apparently didn’t get that memo.
At an event in Iowa today, Biden repeated some of Trump’s jabs, bringing more attention to them.
“I think I’m either low IQ or slow—I don’t know what I am. Slow Joe Biden? Give me a break,” Biden said. “This is like out of Alice in Wonderland.”
Biden attacked Vladimir Putin as members of the audience looked bored.
One man in the front row looked at his phone. Another leaned forward, rubbing his hands together. The man next to him stared at the floor.
“Folks, it’s gotta end,” Biden said of Trump’s presidency. “Whether it’s me or not, it’s gotta end,” he said as the audience slowly applauded.
Many in the audience were probably thinking the same thing of Biden’s event.
Trump is font of referring to Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” as he did during his own stop in Iowa today:
